The Ferrari F12tdf (tour de France) is a track focused version of the F12berlinetta unveiled in October of 2015. The name pays homage to the Tour de France automobile race held between 1899 and 1986 and which was regularly won by the Ferrari 250 between 1956 and 1964. The F12tdf share the same 6.3 liter V12 engine with the F12berlinetta, but with a power output increased to 770 horsepower. The F12tdf ways an astonishing 243 pounds less than F12berlinetta and has a dry weight of just 3,120 pounds. The F12tdf can accelerate from0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in 7.9 seconds, top speed is at least 211 mph, and it laps Ferraris famed Fiorano Test circuit in just 1 minute 21 seconds which is2 secounds faster than the standard F12berlinetta and just 1.3 seconds behind the LaFerrari Hyper Car. The F12tdf was designed completely in house by Ferraris own Styling Center. Production of the F12tdf was limited to just 799 units. The f12tdfs exhilarating dynamic behavior, specifically its lateral acceleration in corners is due to an 8% increase in the ratio of the front tires compared to the rear ones. The cars natural tendency to oversteer as a result of the change in tire sizes is compensated for by the innovative, and first time ever used in a production Ferrari, rear-wheel steering system known as the Virtual Short Wheelbase, which is integrated with the other vehicle dynamic control systems that guarantees the steering wheel response times and turn-in of a competition car while increasing stability at high speed.
Road and Track said the following: The F12tdf is the sort of car that a beginner can get in and drive, but they can't thrash. The learning curve here is much steeper than in a car like a 488 GTBit takes time to understand how to get the most out of the tdf. That's what makes the tdf appealing to the buyers. That this isn't a friendly car continues to instill Ferrari with some of that intimidating mystique that the brand has earned since it was founded. A supercar with 770 horsepower shouldn't be easy to drive. The driver shouldn't expect to immediately be an expert. It should be a challenge. The F12tdf is that challenge.
